Thivon Avenue – Reconstruction with bioclimatic elements

The scope of the project was the reconstruction of about 3 km of Thivon Avenue, from Petrou Ralli Street up to Athinon Avenue. The curbes were replaced and the sidewalks were  reconstructed with cold materials tiles with photocatalytic properties, in order to reduce the ambient temperature and atmospheric pollution. Moreover, 194 steet lights were replaced with new, low-consumption LED lamps, new trees and shrubs were planted and tile-paths for people with reduced visibility and ramps for people with reduced mobility were constructed as well. Additionally, the road surface was reconstructed at four locations, using asphalt with admixtures with photocatalytic properties .
